Stuart Duncan

Director

Wests Illawarra has been a great club for me socially and through my snooker career, and now even more so that i am an active golfer at PKGC. I know how much work goes in behind the scenes by management, staff and the board and now that I have retired I have the time and energy to “give back” and do whatever I can to ensure the Aster Group stays ahead as the premier club in our region.

NICKNAME? Stu

WHY WERE YOU INTERESTED IN BECOMING A DIRECTOR? Wests has been a great club for me socially and through my snooker career, and now even more so that i am an active golfer at PKGC. I know how much work goes in behind the scenes by management, staff and the board and now that I have retired I have the time and energy to “give back” and do whatever I can to ensure the Aster Group stays ahead as the premier club in our region.

WHAT DO YOU THINK YOU WILL ENJOY MOST ABOUT BEING A DIRECTOR? Working with such an energetic, progressive and experienced team.

IN YOUR TIME AS BEING A DIRECTOR, WHAT HAVE BEEN SOME OF THE KEY MILESTONES? I am a new Aster Board member, but I was an advisory board member for PKGC and assisted in the merger of the golf club into the Aster Group. The process was very organised and rewarding to be a part of.

DESCRIBE YOURSELF IN FIVE WORDS:

Passionate, entrepreneurial, organised, reliable and a good communicator.

WHAT DO YOU SEE AS THE BIGGEST CHALLENGE FOR OUR INDUSTRY OVER THE NEXT FIVE YEARS? Communication. Gambling is a necessary component to “feed” a large club likes ours and to provide for all the services and amenities our members want to enjoy. The challenge is to keep the non-gambling membership close and informed so they come along for the journey as the business grows (which it has to) and evolves to remain attractive to prospective members/visitors and ahead of our competitors.
